Reveal the cathedral’s architecture and reduce lighting operating costs. The design had to be developed without building drawings, and new luminaires could only use the existing positions. The previous system had an installed power of 6 kW.
We brought the facades, tower and architectural details into one lighting composition. Luminaires, optics, power and aiming were selected for each part of the building around the existing mounting positions. More efficient fittings and precise light distribution reduced the total system power to approximately 1.5 kW.
An expressive silhouette from afar, with facade relief, window recesses and tower details visible up close. Installed power fell by approximately 75%. At the same operating hours and control settings, this corresponds to a similar reduction in electricity demand.
Lighting renewal combining an aesthetic goal with improved technical system parameters.
Installed lighting power
Around 75% lower installed power. Energy use depends on operating hours and controls.
